GEORGE TOWN (Penang) — A 29-year-old Singaporean man, who went missing after attending a wake last Friday, was found dead on Tuesday (March 12).

His remains were found outside his car, which was believed to have plunged 45m deep into the ravine off Bukit Kukus in Penang.

According to his friends, the victim, identified as Chew Wei Fung, had left the wake just before midnight last Friday.

He was chatting with his friends via the WeChat mobile application while on his way back home to Relau, a suburb in Penang's George Town, before going silent.

Penang State Fire and Rescue Department northeast district zone one officer Muzamer Mohd Salleh said it received a call at about 1pm on Tuesday about a car accident.

He said a car was found inside the ravine when firemen arrived at the scene.

"Checks found a man lying next to the car, possibly thrown off the vehicle after the accident. He was dead, with visible bodily injuries.

"We believe the accident happened several days ago and the car was just seen today," said Mr Muzamer.

He added that the man's body was surrendered to the police for further action. NEW STRAITS TIMES
